Milpitas, California-based Adaptec Inc claims to be the first company to announce a Small Computer Systems Interface host adaptor to support Insite Peripherals Inc’s new high-capacity 21Mb Floptical drives, which are due to be launched formally this week although we have been writing about the things, which use an optical track for precision positioning of the magnetic floppies: Adaptec’s AHA-1520 AT-to-SCSI host adaptor, with Floptical drive support built into its BIOS, is designed to enable Floptical drives to be integrated seamlessly into AT-class personal computers.
