Adaptec Inc has announced a Fast Ethernet adaptor for Pentium Pro servers that is designed to automatically configure for 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps transmissions. The four port adapter, ANA-6944A, has a 24 kilobit memory and is available immediately for $1,000. The company has also announced Duralink, a software suite that will ship with its Fast Ethernet PCI adapters. The package includes Duralink Failover which protects servers from network link failures and Duralink Manager for monitoring SNMP simple network monitoring protocol based server performance and optimization. Duralink is available at no extra charge.
