ADACOM’S CM2132 – MORE INTERESTING THAN IBM 3299

By CBR Staff Writer

Correction: it seems that London-based Adacom 3270 Communications Ltd’ newly-launched multiplexer, the CM2132, is rather more interesting than simply an equivalent to the IBM 3299 (CI No 723) – for a start it costs UKP2,400 where IBM’s 3299 system costs about UKP800, and Adacom already has an equivalent product in the form of its UKP750 CM299: the CM2132 is a 32 port multiplexer than can be used as a multidrop in a local area network as well as in point-to-point configurations, where IBM’s 3299 is an 8 port point-to-point device only; the CM2132 can multiplex all channels through a single coaxial, fibre optic or twisted pair cable.
