ADA: THOMSON ACQUIRES ALSYS

Ada language creator Jean Ichbiah has been finding the going increasingly tough for his Alsys SA Ada implementation company, and has now thrown in the towel and sold Alsys to Thomson-CSF SA, where it will become a member of the Paris-based defence electronics giant’s Thomson Information Technology Group. Alsys says it was doing $23m a year, but according to 01 Informatique, made an enormous loss in 1990, implying the price paid was nominal.
