Acuity Corporation, which changed its name from the funkier iChat in June (CI No 3,421), seems to have reaped the benefits of its new corporate image with $7m in private funding. The series D or mezzanine round of funding won investments from GE Capital’s Equity Corp, OnSet Ventures, Sony Music Entertainment Inc and Vector Capital LP. Acuity says it plans to spend the money expanding its engineering, marketing and sales forces. Those resources are to be marshalled behind WebCenter, Acuity’s recently launched customer service product.
