Activu, a provider of net-centric visualisation and collaboration offerings, has unveiled Activu 5.0, a new software suite for command and control environments, enabling organisations to accelerate communications and decision making capabilities, and utilise tools for peer-to-peer collaboration, integrate with new video technologies, and reduce overall bandwidth utilisation.
The company claims that the new offering integrated into existing LAN/WAN environments, enables organisations gain efficient use of network servers, lower operational costs, and reduced energy costs through server consolidation.
According to Activu, the new software includes peer-to-peer collaboration tools such as TeamShare that extends the level of command and control room collaboration beyond the confines of the display wall. It allows control room operators to communicate, share and annotate their desktop by utilising text messaging, whiteboarding, and other tools.
Activu has also introduced an enhanced IP network transport mechanism for computer sources, Advanced Agent, which supports multiple desktops, user defined display sharing, Open GL and DirectX and the ability to define a single Window as a source; and lower overall bandwidth utilisation and defines user hierarchy at the source and wall level.
In addition, the new software also includes a web client that controls the Activu system from any web browser and is Window 7 multi-touch capable and allows deployment on multi-touch desktop screens, LCD panels and multi-touch capable data walls.
