Actions Semiconductor, a provider of mixed-signal system-on-a-chip (SoC) and multimedia digital signal processing (DSP) offerings for portable consumer electronics in China, has introduced its new Series G1000 product family.
The new Series G1000 product family provides friendly platform for the Gaming Portable Media Player (PMP) market and is equipped with a 32-bit central processing unit (CPU) at a speed of 500 MHz per second.
The new offering consist an embedded pseudo-3D graphic processing unit (GPU) that provides gaming effect.
In addition, the G1000 offers a customised content protection tool inside the Software Development Kit (SDK) to enable system makers to protect their integrated games; allows the Gaming PMP system manufacturers to bundle their self-developed or licensed games efficiently.
The company said that the new G1000’s hardware video engine can facilitate video recording and the full spec of 720P (1280*720 pixel) decoding functions.
Further, the G1000 integrates a power management unit (PMU) and supports DDR2 memory, the new NAND Flash under 40-bit ECC architecture.
Actions Semiconductor CEO Niccolo Chen said the company’s goal is to create a solid foundation and a healthy ecosystem for the Gaming PMP market built on diversified user feedback.
"With the strong hardware capability and friendly software development environment of the G1000, we believe more talented developers will contribute their innovative ideas on this platform and create exponentially more games for our G1000 users," Chen said.
