Founded in 1989, Celogic designs and manufacturers centralized monitoring equipment used by communications companies to monitor the quality and service performance of their digital networks. Acterna, the world’s second largest communications test and management company, will integrate Celogic’s hardware with its software and systems solutions to offer its customers a complete network management system for quality assurance. Celogic is an ISO 9001 certified telecommunications equipment provider.

Celogic products and employees are an exceptionally good fit for Acterna and will help accelerate our growth in the global network management systems market, said John R. Peeler, Acterna Chief Executive Officer. Based on the success of our three-year alliance with Celogic, we are confident that this combination benefits our customers and will better meet their needs for more integrated hardware-software management solutions.

Celogic’s Qualitrans family of data network monitoring equipment complies with ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and is used by such customers as France Telecom, Bouygues Telecom, Cegetel and Mobistar. The ETSI standard is also adopted in Latin American and in some Asia-Pacific countries, providing Acterna an expanded opportunity to offer its network quality management systems solutions to customers in those regions. Acterna will market the Qualitrans product along with its software, Acterna NetOptimize Quality Management System (QMS), to provide an integrated management solution for monitoring service and quality performance of digital leased lines. Celogic holds an international patent for its network faultfinding technology.

Celogic’s employees based near Paris in Trappes will join with Acterna’s software group in Plymouth, UK, to form an expanded business unit dedicated to providing quality management solutions to companies using the ETSI standard. Jean Schmitt, the chairman of Celogic, has been named head of strategy and marketing director for the unit and will remain in Trappes.
