So what’s the moral of the story? Having invested most of Mitsubishi Electric Corp’s cash paid over for its personal computer manufacturing business, ACT Group Plc goes from strength to strength as a software and computer services company, and will soon be turning over substantially more than it did when it included manufacturing in its protfolio – and quality of earnings is much higher now; meantime Mitsubishi has just opened the ?5m extension to the Apricot Computers Ltd plant in Glenrothes, and expects to create 140 new jobs there over the next three years, increasing total employment at the factory by 75%.
