IT services provider Affiliated Computer Services has won an 18-month $21m contract renewal from the Hawaii Department of Human Services to provide fiscal agent services, as well as services related to processing pharmacy and non-pharmacy claims for Hawaii Medical Assistance Programs. The contract includes two additional one-year options.

The company will provide its DirectAccessEHR its electronic health record tool and Fiscal Agent Operations services including claims processing, prior authorization processing, call center, mailroom, provider education, EDI support, banking operations, and third-party recovery efforts. It will also provide on-site systems support for Medicaid Management Information System, which is operated remotely by the State of Arizona.

In addition it will provide Pharmacy Benefit Management services including claims processing, system maintenance and modification, drug rebate, clinical consultation, and call center operations.

ACS has been providing fiscal agent services for the state’s Medicaid program since 2002, and pharmacy services since 2001.
