Alaska Communications Systems Group, an integrated communications provider, has unveiled the Android powered HTC Hero from ACS that offers the combination of the Android platform with the 3G network.

The company said that the users can have access to all Google services along with more than 25,000 applications built for the Android platform. The device’s seven-panel-wide home screen can be customised to fit the individual requirements of the user.

According to ACS, the HTC Hero offers pinch-to-zoom capability, integrated GPS navigation and trackball navigation. In addition, it also includes built-in Google apps, one-touch access to Google Search, Maps, Gmail and YouTube; outlook integration; expandable memory; removable battery; 5.0 MP camera and camcorder; access to social networking sites including Facebook, Flickr and Twitter; and visual voice mail for access to specific voice mail messages.

Anand Vadapalli, chief operations officer of ACS, said: “The Android-powered HTC Hero from ACS is the one device people need that will cover all aspects of their lives. Users will enjoy the same internet services they’ve become accustomed to on their desktop PC, with more options for customisation.
