The university system has been using the Tax Credit Reporting Services (TCRS) technology from Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) since 1998, in an effort to comply with the reporting requirements of the federal Taxpayer Relief Act (TRA) of 1997 which advocated education tax credits for students and their parents.
Under the terms of the new contract extension, ACS will provide data management, web-based support, call center services and fulfillment services for 1098-T information. The company said that TCRS will also enable the university students to request a copy of their 1098-T online.
