ACS Courier, a shipping company in Greece, has selected Wavelink’s Avalanche Mobility Center, a mobile device management system, for wireless WAN device management.

According to Wavelink, Avalanche Mobility Center (MC) is a management system for the wireless enterprise, providing complete visibility and control of wireless infrastructure and mobile devices from a central console.

ACS is deploying the Intermec devices with the support of Mobile Technology, a Wavelink business partner. The 1,000-device deployment is anticipated to increase by 500 additional devices over the next three years. The project being carried out by Mobile Technology is expected to contribute to the productivity and efficiency of ACS Courier by providing central administration of its mobile device ecosystem.

Wavelink will manage the ACS Courier mobile devices on GPRS (and other wireless wide area networks) in addition to Wi-Fi networks.

In addition to managing its mobile devices through Avalanche MC, ACS will receive flexibility and control with the addition of Avalanche Remote Control and Avalanche CE Secure, according to Wavelink.

Steve Bemis, vice president of sales at Wavelink, said: The mobile device deployment by ACS is a great example of one of our partners working with a customer to find a mobile solution that improves productivity and is cost-effective. ACS Courier joins the list of the world’s largest companies in industries such as logistics, retail and manufacturing that are saving time and money with Avalanche MC.
