Microsoft Corp chief financial officer Greg Maffei told investors at a conference in Seattle yesterday to expect a couple of major acquisitions or investments, Bloomberg reported. Maffei said that despite speculation that the Department of Justice would cause a slow down in investments and acquisitions at Microsoft that trend has continued unabated in 1998.. we have a couple of big deals coming. Likely areas for any deals are the cable television industry and hand held computers, he hinted. Internet tools and data warehousing were also mentioned as markets that Microsoft is keeping a close eye on.
