Cambridge-based Acorn Computers Ltd yesterday announced a new top-end addition to its Archimedes range of workstations. The A540 is based upon a 30MHz version of its 32-bit ARM-3 RISC microprocessor which the firm introduced in June last year, (CI No 1,455). Rated by the firm at 13.5 MIPS, it comes with from 4Mb to 16Mb memory, 100Mb disk, floppy drive, a range VGA or SuperVGA colour monitor options, six-port SCSI interface and the RiscOS operating system.
