Acius Inc, Cupertino, California Apple spin-off has started shipping 4th Dimension, a database management program first developed in France as Silver Surfer, brought in-house to Apple, and then spun out again as 4D: the program has multiuser networking capability and a programming language can generate run-only programs available under the Custom menu choice, a feature claimed to be important to vertical market programmers who might use it as an engine; the price to developers is $695, which includes telephone support; four run-time modules are being offered at $295.
