ACER, TEXAS, & CHINA DEVELOPMENT JOINT VENTURE TAKES OFF

The joint venture between Acer Corp, 58%, Texas Instruments Inc, 26% and China Development Corp, 16% to fabricate 4M-bit – and later 16M-bit – dynamic memory chips in Taiwan, has started pilot production, the Financial Times reports: volume production is set for the first quarter of 1992; the venture, in the Hsinchu Industrial Park, Taipei, is capitalised at $140m.
