Acer Russia has won a tender organized by the Russian Federal Employment Service of the Russian Federation and the World Bank to supply 576 multimedia personal computers for 33 regional employment centers. According to Redge Parr, the World Bank consultant at the Federal Employment Service, about 10 companies participated in the final stage of the tender, among others – Dell Computer Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co, ICL Plc and Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG. To implement the contract, Acer engaged Compu-Link, one of its leading Russian distributors. According to Yuri Vinogradov, general manager at Compu-Link, the company’s task is to deliver personal computers and all relevant equipment to 33 regional employment centers, to install them, create local area networks and train staff. Acer and Compu-Link are going to hold a number of seminars for the employees of the regional centers. The Federal Employment Service has 65 regional training centers for the professional training of the unemployed, and in two years there will be one of these centers in each of the 89 regions of the Russian Federation.
