TaiwanÆs Acer Group is predicting a 25% jump in sales next year to $10bn from an estimated $8bn this year driven by increasing shipments of laptop computers and mobile phones to US customers. Chairman Stan Shih said shipments of laptops are expected to rise to 2.5 million from 1.8 million this year. IBM is expected to be the largest customer, buying half of all the PCs made by Acer. Shares of Acer Inc, the group’s flagship, have risen 87% this year although Taiwan’s benchmark index has gained only 18%.
