Acer has launched a new Timeline series notebooks Aspire 3811TZ/TZG, which is made with materials free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs).
The company claims that the new Timeline series notebooks are designed to fulfill the green criteria. It is produced with materials free from PVC and BFRs (excluding AC power cable). The reduction of PVC and BFRs in Acer products is expected to help protect environment from being poisoned by electronics goods.
The new series of notebooks are expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 40% compared with traditional products, which gives more than eight hours of battery life, the company claims.
The Timeline series is designed for recycling and with its modularisation design users can lengthen the usable life of the products to reduce electronic waste by replacing the modularised parts, the company said.
The Aspire Timeline series notebooks were first announced in April 2009. Characteristics of the Timeline series are its slim and light form, which measure 1-inch at the thinnest point.
