Acer Inc’s Acer Laboratories Inc, Taipei, Taiwan has announced a 64-bit graphics accelerator chip for Microsoft Corp’s Windows that it claims to be more than 25% faster than its predecessor and other graphics accelerators on the market. The AliCAT-64 3145A has Peripheral Component Interconnect, VESA Local Bus and AT bus connections. It also has a 64-bit block transfer engine, supports all standard Windows accelerator functions, and includes a high-performance line draw engine. It has drivers for Microsoft Windows, Windows NT and IBM OS/2 2.X and Warp. The AliCAT-64 3145A is priced at $9.50 per chip in high volumes.
