Accrue Software Inc has entered the NT marketplace with NT Network Collector for Accrue Insight. NT Network Collector is slated for availability in the fourth quarter of 1998. It’s an interesting move for Accrue, though logical enough. The company had its origins in San Francisco, California-based Organic Online, an early web site developer and one of the key players in the Apache open source web server movement. Accrue was born when Organic co-founder Jonathan Nelson found he needed a tool to help him understand how users navigate the web. Code-named Plum, his research project eventually ballooned into a spin-off company which became Accrue. Insight is the company’s flagship product, an e-business analysis system able to handle volumes of data across complex site configurations, such as where a site is geographically dispersed or includes mirrors. Adding the NT collector means Insight can now run on the heterogeneous network environments typical of the corporate world.
