Accenture wins South African tax deal

IT services giant Accenture Ltd has won a contract with the South African Revenue Service worth a reported ZAR 1bn ($143m).

By CBR Staff Writer

The vendor will upgrade the central tax and customs IT system for the government department which employs more than 12,000 people and collects more than $50bn in taxes every year. More than 70 companies initially responded to the tender when it was issued last year, and Accenture beat two other short-listed suppliers, one of which was local company GijimaAST.

Accenture is a long-term services partner of SARS, and has previously modernized its customer support processes and underpinning technology.
