Accenture has signed an agreement to acquire the sourcing services and business process outsourcing (BPO) services assets of Ariba, a provider of collaborative business commerce offerings.

Upon the closing of acquisition, Accenture will take ownership Ariba’s category expertise, sourcing process expertise and strategic sourcing execution resources.

Accenture said that the purchase price is $51m, $12m of which is subject to escrow to be released based on assignment and performance of certain assets.

Accenture BPO group CEO Mike Salvino said, the acquisition of Ariba will extend and strengthen the company’s existing sourcing and procurement services by adding efficient category expertise, scalable global sourcing service delivery operations and proprietary sourcing databases, benchmarks and technologies.
