Technology outsourcing and consulting firm Accenture has reported net revenue of $6.5bn in the second quarter of fiscal 2011, up 17% in US dollars and 18% in local currency compared to $5.54bn for the same period last year.
Consulting net revenue increased by 20% to $3.51bn and outsourcing net revenue increased by 13% to $2.54bn, compared to the same period a year ago.
The company posted an operating income of $772m during the quarter, an increase of 19% compared to $651m in the same period last year.
Gross margin for the second quarter was 31.7%, compared to 32.7% for the same period last year.
The company had new bookings of $6.98bn, with consulting bookings of $3.8bn and outsourcing bookings of $3.18bn.
For the quarter ended 28 February 2010, the selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses for the second quarter were $1.15bn, or 18.9% of net revenues, compared with $1.04bn, or 20% of net revenues, for the second quarter last year.
Geographically, revenue from Americas increased by 21% to $2.7bn while Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) was up by 9% to $2.6bn, and revenue from Asia Pacific region, increased by 34% to $787m.
Accenture expects net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2011 to be in a range of $6.3bn to $6.5bn.
