Accenture in search of apprentices in London & Newcastle

Apprenticeships will be offered under the UK's Technology Apprenticeship programme.

By Joao Lima

Accenture has opened vacancies for 40 apprentices to take part in paid on-the-job training, learning digital, web and cloud computing skills scheme in its London and Newcastle offices.

The company estimates to have hired 100 UK apprentices since the beginning of the project in 2012.

The firm said the 2015’s program would start in September and last for three years. Candidates will be working towards a higher apprenticeship for IT, a Level 4 BTEC Diploma and a Foundation Degree.

Accenture also admitted that candidates who complete the program might be considered for a permanent place.

Accenture UK and Ireland managing director for technology Emma McGuigan said the IT services firm is committed to tackling the technology skills gap.

"The rapid expansion of the IT sector and companies’ ongoing need for technology and digital expertise mean it is more important than ever to invest in apprenticeships," she said.

"We offer our apprentices the opportunity to develop the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy as they work on a variety of exciting client assignments."

Bob Paton, Accenture’s Newcastle delivery centre managing director, said: "Accenture is pleased to be able to offer young people with a passion for technology a route into the workplace.

"Our apprentice recruits have brought a wealth of talent and enthusiasm to Accenture, and we look forward to welcoming a new intake later this year."

The company said it has gone on a ‘Skills to Succeed’ mission to skill-up three million people globally by 2020.
