Accenture has designed and deployed a flexible backend platform dubbed "Business Integration Platform" (BIP) for BMW’s ConnectedDrive.

BIP is expected to provide product management, ordering and contract management capabilities, and customer management for the ConnectedDrive service.

Using the platform the German automaker will be able to add new and improved services to ConnectedDrive customers.

The ConnectedDrive Store, which is a part of the service, will facilitate customers to buy apps directly from BMW through the company portal or within the vehicle, with customers getting the ability to choose the services and service duration.

According to Accenture, the services will be provided "over-the-air" into the vehicle in near real-time.

Accenture automotive practice MD Roland Mayr said: "Car-buyers want the latest consumer technologies and services integrated into connected vehicles, so the ability to add services in the future is very important.

"Leading car companies that sell a range of connected vehicle services directly to customers gain a much closer relationship to their buyers, establishing a new sales channel."
