Accellion has launched the kiteworks for Symantec mobile app on Android.

The app, enables people to securely work with enterprise content in any location. It specifically works with the Symantec Sealed Programme, which wraps a security and policy management layer around devices.

Built-in security features include mobile data encryption, the restriction of the ability to cut and paste text, user authentication and local data storage policy control.

"High profile security breaches, such as last summer’s phishing scheme that exploited Dropbox to steal user credentials or the cyber-attack on Sony Pictures, highlight why enterprises are constantly looking for improved ways to ensure the security of employee content, on any device," said Vidhya Ranganathan, SVP of Products at Accellion.

"Our new kiteworks for Symantec app provides organisations with necessary security safeguards to help ensure that confidential content is only being accessed and shared by authorised users."

Michael Lin, VP, Product Management at Symantec, commented: "We are dedicated to helping our customers keep their data secure, regardless of the device they use, so we are excited to welcome Accellion into the Symantec Sealed Programme to further increase workforce mobile security and productivity.

"We applaud the efforts of our partners who help their customers do business in a secure way, while also factoring in the importance of connectivity and productivity for their employees."

The app is available in the Google Play Store now and and iOS version is slated to appear next year.
