Xante Corp, Mobile, Alabama has added the Accel-a-Writer IX upgrade controller for the Apple Computer Inc Personal LaserWriter LS printer, which doubles the resolution to 600 by 600 dots per inch, increases processing speed using the Am29000 RISC processor, provides PostScript compatibility, simultaneous support of Mac and MS-DOS machines, SCSI interface, memory management, 35 resident fonts and is upgradable to 16Mb of RAM; a 300 dots per inch version is also available; priced at $1,300 for the 300 dots per inch controller and $1,700 for the 600 dots per inch controller, the Accel-a-Writer IX ships next month.
