Acacia Research has announced that its subsidiary, Acacia Patent Acquisition, has acquired the rights to a patent for network monitoring technology.
Acacia Research’s subsidiaries engage in developing, acquiring and licensing patented technologies.
Paul Ryan, chairman and CEO of Acacia, said: “Acacia continues to grow its base of future revenues by adding new patent portfolios. As our licensing success grows, more patent owners are selecting us as their partner for the licensing of their patented technologies.”
The company has stated that this patented technology generally relates to monitoring and reporting on management and financial characteristics of networks and can be used to help organisations make resource decisions.
Acacia said, as businesses evolve, significant portions of existing company patent portfolios may languish, generating no revenue while incurring maintenance expenses. Acasia Research’s subsidiaries control such patent portfolios and attempt to turn them into revenue generators if assigned or licensed to them.
