Abbey National adds Orange top-ups to ATMs

Abbey National and Orange have joined forces to make phone top-ups available for prepay mobile subscribers at the UK bank's ATM machines. Orange has 8.6 million prepay customers in the UK, who will soon be able to add talk time to their mobile accounts by visiting one of Abbey's 3,000 cashpoints.

The service will be delivered via Euronet’s ATM Recharge technology and should be fully operational by Q3 2002. A similar system was introduced in Belgium three years ago and approximately 30% of Orange prepay customers there are now using the service. It could well prove equally popular in the UK.
