AB Electronics Plc, the Abercynon, Mid Glamorgan electronics group has decided to set up its own trading company in Japan. The company feels that the volume of trade with Japan, until now conducted through trading companies, has reached the point where it needs to look after its own interests. The new company, called AB Japan, will incorporate a small Japanese trading house that has been looking after AB’s business in Japan for the last five years. The group’s chairman, Peter Phillips, said that the subsidiary will initially look after AB’s purchasing requirements, but hopes that it will help develop sales to Japanese companies, and will also possibly import finished products to the UK.
