85% of enterprises not prepared to meet mobile demands

But 60% know mobility management is critical.

By Ben Sullivan

An enterprise mobility management (EMM) survey has found that 85% of organisations are not yet fully prepared to support mobile requirements.

Despite this, 60% of firms indicated that they consider mobile management critical to their business.

The survey of 200 IT pros from a range of industries and regions also found that larger firms are more likely to be prepared than smaller firms by up to 50%.

Conducted by FrontRange, a management software company, and Enterprise Management Associates, both firms’ representatives used the survey results to highlight the need for mobile management solutions in the workplace.

Steve Brasen, EMA managing research director, said: With a unified endpoint management solution, organizations are able to establish a consistent IT experience for both administrators and end users.

"Administrators are able to more easily provision, secure, and maintain a broad number of mobile and PC devices while end users are able to access a common set of applications, data, and other IT services from any device, at any location, at any time."

FrontRange CEO, Jonathan Temple, said: "Organizations have been structured to manage thousands of servers, PCs, tablets, notebooks and smartphones, but the number of wirelessly connected devices will proliferate well beyond this level.
