The Nintendo of America unit of Nintendo Co Ltd says Japanese sales of its Nintendo 64 games machine topped 800,000 units during its first four weeks in retail stores. It has committed to delivering 500,000 systems to retailers between September and Christmas, but retailers have requested almost 1million. Nintendo looks to sell 3.6 million in the Japanese market in its first nine months of availability and more than 1million units in North America.
