Following last weekend’s performance, we’re sure many readers of CBR will be nervously anticipating England’s second World Cup match Thursday night against South America’s Uruguay.
But how are you going to watch it? I just overheard in the lift someone saying they can’t watch the game because they don’t have a living room, let alone a TV. Well, fear not, thanks to technological advances since the last World Cup such as Google’s Chromecast and high-speed, high definition streaming, it’s pretty much impossible to miss a match this time around. Here are five of our favourite ways we’ve been streaming the World Cup this year from Brazil.
Chromecast
Chromecast, Google’s little dongle miracle, lets users stream TV straight from their laptops, PCs and smartphones.
The devices cost £35 and plug into the HDMI port on TVs, and acts as a receiver for the media you are watching.
In fact, the BBC iPlayer app supports Chromecast, so watching some World Cup games is easy as pie. ITV does not currently have Chromecast support built in, but you can still stream from ITV and send it to your TV.
Sky Go
Sky Sports doesn’t actually have any World Cup games for streaming, but Sky Go customers can actually access ITV from the Sky Go app and stream live games.

ITV
ITV’s Player app is accessible to anyone with an Android, iOS or Windows Phone, where the channel will be streaming the games live. However, if you’re using the app on Android or Windows Phone, live games aren’t available – so you’ll have to go straight to ITV’s website to watch.
talkSPORT
Got the talkSPORT app? Whilst not being able to watch the games, talkSPORT will be covering the matches live and you can listen to coverage from every single game. This option is a little easier on your data and perfect for the bus home after work. The app is available for Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Kindle Fire.
BBC
The BBC will be streaming World Cup games through its very own iPlayer app, available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
The games will also be watchable through iPlayer’s catch up feature, making it easy to watch any games when you have time to catch up on them.
Matches are also available on the BBC Sport app.
