4.7MBYTES PER SECOND LIMITATION ON IBM’S MAINFRAMES A FUNCTION OF THE DATA STREAMING PROTOCOL NOT MVS/XA

Turns out the 4.7Mbytes per second limitation on the peak channel rate for IBM’s top-end mainframes that we noted in CI No 600 is a function not of MVS/XA but of the data streaming protocol: to increase the rate beyond 4.7Mbytes per second, the number of bytes carried in each packet would have to be raised.
