$4.2m EARNER FOR BOOLE & BABBAGE

By CBR Staff Writer

Boole & Babbage Inc, Sunnyvale, California has picked up a cool $4.2m from its Japanese agent CLC Corp in return for a perpetual licence for Japan only to just one of its 30 system software products. CLC gets the Stop X37 product – but Boole does have to do some work for the money: CLC wants a version for Hitachi Ltd’s VOS3 operating system, which runs on its high-end IBMulators. The VOS3 work accounts for $1m of the cash. It will therefore get $3m upfront, and the balance on delivery of the version for the Hitachi mainframes.
