3M TO SPIN OFF IMAGING, DATA STORAGE TO HOLDERS

Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co is to spin off its data storage and imaging systems units to shareholders, and close its audio and video tape business, at a cost of about 5,000 jobs; the cost will be $600m.
