Buying again in its efforts to escape the Perils of Pauline, Redwood City, California Interactive Multiplayer designer 3DO Co Inc bought the assets of games developer New World Computing from NTN Communications Inc for about $13m in 3DO shares and assumed liabilities. The acquisition is expected to give 3DO access to more than 3m games players, strengthen the company’s expertise in the role-playing and strategy game genres, and add capabilities to its Internet efforts. New World development an d publishing will remain in Agoura Hills; the firm is to operate as a division under the Studio 3DO umbrella. It is 3DO’s third games developer.
