3DO CLAIM MULTIPLAYER SUCCESS

By CBR Staff Writer

3DO Co Inc said the launch of its Multiplayer game system in Japan has been a spectacular success: the system, sold under licence to Panasonic, sold 40,000 units in the first week and sales have continued to be strong since; in Japan 10,000 retail outlets are selling it; it was launched last year and recently its price was dropped to $500 after criticism; after a difficult launch in the US the firm is now optimistic that the year end sales total will meet its goals and exceed 100,000 units; the product will be sold in Europe by the end of 1994.
