Hamilton, Bermuda-based 3Dlabs Inc’s acquisition of Dynamic Pictures Inc last week has already born fruit (CI No 3,452). 3Dlabs has announced a revamped version of Creative Pictures long running Oxygen graphics accelerator card series for Windows NT workstations (CI No 3,118), the Oxygen RPM 3D 2/64. The new board will use parallel graphics processors with 64MB SDRAM, upgradeable to 128MB with an Oxygen RPMx2 snap-in board. The board will support PowerThreads enabled OpenGL. 3Dlabs is also looking to integrate PowerThreads – the OpenGL-boosting driver developed by Dynamic Pictures (CI No 3,334) – across its NT workstation product range. An AGP version of the new board is expected to ship in the third quarter of this year, with a PCI version in Q4, costing $1,5000. The Oxygen RPMx2 upgrade board will be available in the third quarter, priced $1,200.
