3COM’S SWITCHES GET ASYNC MODE LOCAL NET EMULATION

3Com Corp is shipping Asynchronous Transfer Mode LAN Emulation software for its backbone and workgroup switches, claiming to be the first vendor to offer ATM Forum-compliant local area network emulation across both switches and interface boards. The software is available on the firm’s Asynchronous Transfer campus backbone switch, the CELLplex 7000, the LinkSwitch 2700 Ethernet-Asynchronous Transfer workgroup switch (CI No 2,358), as well as its ATMLink network interface boards.
