3Com Corp is to invest $100m on two Chinese networking joint ventures over the next two years, according to The South China Morning Post. The company will team with Beijing Kuanguang Telecommunication – a unit of China Telecom – and Beijing Guochuang Information Technology – an affiliate of ISP China On-Line, to initially provide systems and networking consultancy and eventually build networking products. 3Com will also set up a research center with the China Academy of Sciences, working on audio/video/data network integration. The company also announced plans to launch an Asian version of its PalmPilot handheld.
