3Com is to axe another 500 jobs by moving certain corporate functions to its operating units. The main areas affected include corporate marketing, human resources, and finance decision support. Corporate will retain critical services including IT and accounting.
The move is part of 3Coms plan to restructure its business around three key divisions serving the telco, business networks, and business connectivity markets. The company has exited unprofitable markets including Internet appliances consumer broadband modems.
