Santa Clara-based 3Com Corp has announced the development of a new ASIC, the Token Ring Switching Engine. The Token Ring Switching Engine will form the heart of the switching systems for IBM Corp environments that 3Com plans to deliver by the middle of this year. The first of these, the LANplex 6000 Switching Module, will be demonstrated at the Networld+Interop show in Las Vegas this March.
