3Com Corp expects to report record turnover of around $830m for the fiscal year ending May 31, up from $617m last year, president and chief executive Eric Benhamou told AP-Dow Jones World Equities Report: Benhamou declined to discuss the group’s earnings outlook, but said he plans to boost the company’s presence in Asia to support annual sales growth of more than 75% in the region – growth in Asia’s booming telecommunications markets is twice the company’s average, says Benhamou, and he expects even higher growth in fiscal 1995; Asia, excluding Japan, now accounts for about 5% of the company’s sales and Benhamou says that the region is the most profitable as a percentage of sales; he is in Hong Kong and will travel to Peking later this week to open the company’s first office in China; and 3Com plans to open another office in China, probably in Shanghai, later this year.
