3Com Corp has begun construction of its first manufacturing facility to serve the European market in Blanchardstown, Ireland: the company plans to invest more that $16m in the facility that will initially produce Ethernet network adapters, with the potential to manufacture the company’s internetworking products; 3Com expects to employ more than 175 people over the next five years in the area with 60,000 square feet of space in operation by late 1992 – a temporary facility for product testing and packaging is operating in Dublin until plant construction is fully completed.
