3COM ANNOUNCES NIC SUPPLY DEAL WITH COMPAQ

By CBR Staff Writer

As expected (CI No 3,250), 3Com Corp duly announced its supplier relationship with Compaq Computer Corp’s PC group, and will sell Network Interface Cards (NICs) as part of Compaq’s configure-to- order program later this year. The deal will see 10/100 NICs, branded under the 3Com name, included in Compaq PCs off the line. Previously, networking products were added to Compaq systems only in the channel. In addition, the two companies will continue to test and integrate their products to insure performance as well as certification from software vendors such as Microsoft and Novell.
