3COM AND SOLITON SYSTEMS KK FORM 3COM-SOLITRON IN JAPAN

3Com Corp, Santa Clara, California and Soliton Systems KK, Tokyo have formed an equally-owned independent business operation, 3Com-Solitron in Japan dedicated to addressing the growing market for networking systems, and demonstrated an early version of its first product, 3+Open Kanji LAN Manager, at the Communications Show ’89 in Tokyo: the product, based on 3+Open LAN Manager, will be the first open architecture network operating system with a user interface in Kanji characters when it appears in the summer, 3Com claims, and will support IBM Japan’s PS/55, NEC Corp’s PC 9801 and AX standard machines.
