Headed up by Shaun Qureshi, compression will operate and compete on its own account, against other independent production companies. As a cross-platform production operation, the unit will focus on producing a variety of programming content including audio, video and interactive services for TV, radio and digital platforms (e.g. web and interactive TV).

The unit will offer a fully integrated service, ensuring that brands can develop across different media based on a unique end-to-end approach to digital content production. Compression has developed from 365television (makers of the documentaries Mark Owen’s Celebrity Scooters & Mike Tyson in the UK, both for BBC Choice).

Current projects include short films and animated series for BBC Choice, as well as developing primetime ideas for C4 and the BBC. Scripted pilots for Popney Rhyming Slang as animated short films have also been developed.

Says Shaun Qureshi, Programme providers are looking for dynamic and unique ways to exploit content in new ways, in order to entertain and communicate with their audiences across all media. Compression provides this flexibility.
